I hear this question all the time. Can I learn business analysis if I don’t have a computer science degree? How technical should a business analyst (BA) be?

What would it take to get into business analysis for a non-technie? 

Would they be at a disadvantage? 

What skills are transferable to a business analysis career?

I’ve met quite a few excellent BAs coming from non-technical backgrounds – business, commerce, engineering, and even political science.

Of course, you have to learn BA skills and techniques.

However, the BA Mindset and the ability to think systematically, logically, and critically have no boundaries.
